How to save $1000 on LASIK Laser Vision Correction

So you want LASIK but you are on a budget?

Naturally you do not want to take on risk just to save money.  So where are the places you can shave off a few dollars?

Well, the average price for LASIK is $4000 for both eyes.

  1. The first possibility is just asking for a discount.  This may be easier said than done.  If you are shy, we can do it for you.  Just email givemeadiscount@lasikhomepage.com and specify your budget.  We can check annonymously with local centers regarding any discount programs.  It will help if you can get a friend or friends to commit as well.
  2. Do you have vision insurance?
  3. Are you a member of a club or credit union?  The center may extend discounts to organizations or employers or better yet your employer may cover all or part of your fee!  again just ask or Just email givemeadiscount@lasikhomepage.com and we can inquire on your behalf.
  4. Convert from Custom to Standard treatment.  Depending on the surgeon or laser, the results are virtually identical and if you are on a budget, the savings may be well worth it.
  5. Ask if the center has a last minute program and make yourself available.
  6. Ask if you can save by paying cash.  Financing or Credit cards charge the surgeon up to 20% of the fee.  They may be willing to extend the savings to you.
  7. Schedule in the slow season.
  8. Schedule on an off day.
  9. Go with a new surgeon that is looking to build his experience.
  10. Ask if financial aid is available.
  11. Go with PRK (the results are the same but the healing is somewhat slower).   The center has no cost for the microkeratome blade or laser cone.
  12. Go with a microkeratome rather than the Laser for the flap.
  13. Ask for samples of medications.
  14. Offer to limit post op care to 3 months (standard is one year)
  15. Offer to waive any free retreatments (with a standard prescription and well trained surgeon your chance is less than 5% you will need it anyway-why pay for it?)
  16. Go with same day surgery.  Less time in the office translates into less cost for the center.
  17. Ask if the center has a referral program.  You can recoup some of your surgical fee via referrals.  There are limitations on the amount you may be compensated.
  18. Apply for a job at a LASIK center.  Some centers offer low cost or even free surgery for employees!
