Development Of Price Comparing Sites

Shopping for technology has been made easy by the many price shopping sites out there. In the world of high tech computer components there are three major sites that control and monitor most of the market: Pricewatch, Pricegrabber, and NexTag. Each of these three have there own unique features and attributes but essentially all perform the same function. This function is to compare different retailers pricing on a specific product or set of similar products so that you can find the best deal. I have used all three and in general try to check all of them to make sure that all of the retailers are being captured. By using these three sites you can get almost all of the major and minor retailers pricing on a wide variety of products.

Pricewatch is the grandfather of all price comparison sites. Founded in 1995 it continues to be one of the most popular pages for finding deals on all sorts of computer products and other gadgets. When Pricewatch was first formed the webpage was exclusively dedicated to comparing prices among the many fragmented computer retailers around the United States and eventually the world. These local computer stores enjoyed great success through the exposure that only Pricewatch could provide. In addition they got to comparison shop with the competition and adjust their prices accordingly. Pricewatch also provided consumers with many benefits too including exclusive sales and prices as well as guarantees on the products being provided. Today Pricewatch offers far more than just computer products and is a destination for discerning shoppers everywhere.

Soon after Pricewatch came out Pricegrabber was founded. One of the things with Pricewatch was while it offered a vast selection of products to choose from the actual interface was not the friendliest. Pricegrabber offered many of the same features but with an easy to use interface that made shopping a breeze. NexTag came along and offered many similar features to Pricegrabber. NexTag is a hodge podge of just about everything under the sun including financial services, real estate, automobiles, education programs and much more. Currently NexTag ranks as one of the most popular and commonly used sites on the web.

I have used all three sites and find that for the most part if I know exactly what product I am looking for NexTag and Pricegrabber do and great job. This is not to say that Pricewatch is not one of my go to sites for this, just that I can do a quick search on either of the proceeding two and quickly find what I am looking for. Pricewatch is great for following trends and watching prices on a wide variety of products. In addition I prefer to use Pricegrabber for a lot of the higher tech stuff while NexTag for more of the consumer level products. Regardless of this if I am serious about purchasing something I will use all three pages.

These three sites are key if you plan on finding the best price on just about any products, but in particular anything high tech. Whether is RAM for the home PC or a new Cisco 7200 high performance router all three of these sites when used together will find you the best deal. All three have been in existence long enough that their reliability is proven, so if you do find a solid deal you know you can trust the source.
